Our Story

Our Dream – Connecting Children With Animals

Hello again, my name is Julie and with lots of wonderful help and support from my daughter Katie, together we operate our family owned and worked Farmstay.

Ba Mack is set on 285 acres of superfine merino country and we run approximately 300 merino sheep: A mixture of happy wethers, beautiful ewes and gorgeous lambs – Oh and I mustn’t forget our sexy rams.

To tell you a little more about myself – I grew up in Sydney and made the big move to Mudgee (my mother’s home town) about 28 years ago.

When I was a little girl, I stayed on a farm for a holiday.  WOW, the best time of my life and I can still remember it so fondly now.  Wide open spaces, beautiful scenery and lots and lots of animals everywhere.  It was such a wonderful experience and I will never forget it.

As a child, I always had the biggest dream of one day living in the country and being surrounded by my own animals.  I would often tell my parents that the “Stork” delivered me to the wrong address because I truly believed that I was meant to live in the country and live on a farm.

I am so happy to say that I am now actually fulfilling my childhood dream of living in the country and being surrounded by so many of my own wonderful farm animals.

My passion, from my heart, and new dream in life (as an adult) is to give OTHERS that same wonderful “hands on” experience of country and farm life that I experienced as a child.

I would like to help you build YOUR very own happy memories and experiences with our animals and country life, so that you too can take home those wonderful memories and cherish them forever, just as I did so long ago.

My daughter and I are so proud to share our animals with you and our animals love to show you how beautiful and gentle they are.

Please do not worry if your children (or even yourself) are very nervous around animals in any way because we will spend as much time with you as you would like to help overcome this.

Ba Mack Farmstay does not run by the clock, just by need.  You will find there is no mobile or internet connection on our farmstay and no clocks that really work… they are all set on the most “appropriate time” 🙂

The Meaning of “Ba Mack Farmstay”

BA – Is the name that I called my grandmother.  I proudly wear her
wedding ring and feel her presence every day. It is also of course the sound a sheep makes !!

MACK – Is for Mary MacKillop, Australia’s first saint. Mary’s motto
was “Never See a Need and Not Do Anything About It”.

I see a real need for children to experience a connection with animals and country life.

We would like to give your children this experience.

We love sharing our farm and making new friends and our animals enjoy being our ambassadors – you really are going to love them.

BA MACK FARMSTAY – Is a wonderful holiday where you can see, touch, feed and hear our gorgeous farm animals all around you.

Pssssst I love to bake and homemade afternoon tea is such an amazing country experience. Every afternoon you are welcome to join me in the homestead kitchen to help me bake something yummy to eat. I have lots of goodies to share.

I promise that you will thoroughly enjoy your experience of visiting us. We can’t wait to share our farm and animals with you.

Our passion is to give children and adults a truly “hands on” experience with animals
